Three years ago, Doug Curtis was making a high six figure salary working for Dometic, one of the preeminent global brands in the marine and RV industries as the VP of Marketing.

Doug worked on Dometic, Atwood, Marine Air, Cruisair, SeaLand, Condaria, Eskimo Ice and some of the biggest and best brands Dometic acquired in Europe and Australia. Overseeing everything from integrating acquisitions of traditional business to business core products to newly engineered accessory products. He managed a marketing team of 7 with 30+ outsourced digital experts, agencies and helped these new products and brands go from zero to 6 and 7 figure sales revenue per month in online and offline strategies. These brands he worked on everyday saw wildly successful growth online and offline and dominated their marketplaces.

Doug understood what worked to grow and scale new products and brands online but started to notice how the outsourced agencies he worked with were not aligned with his brands’ success.

The outsourced agencies were more motivated to bill time. Extra people would be packed into meetings and a lot of hours would be spent creating elaborate PDFs instead of actionable work that would get results for the clients quickly.

Another issue he had back then and still has with the digital marketing industry is that it’s all one big hype machine. Everyone is an expert about driving traffic, new software and thousands of “Shiny Objects” competing for your attention. Tons of hype helps ad agencies and marketing experts jack up your bill and encourage new clients to do this or that new strategy. After working in marketing and advertising for over 20 years Doug noticed many of the coolest new products and brands he personally cared about couldn’t even afford the big agency fees.

Instead these small, medium sized and emerging brands were left with the small digital agencies that promised great results but didn’t know how to generate results and didn’t have access to any of the proven systems and architecture that would actually produce results.

This was a major turning point for Doug. After ten years of successfully launching over 200 products, generating TENS OF MILLIONS of dollars in sales revenue, he decided to walk away from his high salary and glass corner office.
